University employees responsible for contracting for such venues must determine in advance whether such facilities already prohibit the carrying of concealed weapons in their buildings by posting signs as required by state law. If they do not, the following contract provision, or a substantial equivalent, should be included in the agreement: "It is agreed that, temporarily and immediately before, during, and after the event, the university shall have the right to post "Weapons are prohibited in this building" signs at all entrances to the building. University personnel shall contact law enforcement to the extent any person appears to be in violation of the no-weapons requirement."
Exceptions to the above required contract provision must be approved by the Vice President or Dean responsible for the event. In addition, the Office of Administration must be notified at least forty-eight (48) hours in advance of the event, so that appropriate individuals are aware that the university's weapons policy will not apply to this special event.
