About the Study

The purpose of this research study is to examine the lasting physical and psychological effects of the COVID-19 virus on survivors of the illness AND the physical and psychological health of adults who were not diagnosed with COVID-19. Participation from research volunteers involves performing physical and psychological assessments and answering questionnaires. The research study takes place at the Athletic and Human Performance Research Center (AHPRC) on the Marquette University campus, with one research session lasting approximately 3-4 hours.

Layout Of Tests

research participant-Volunteer participants answer questionnaires that collect information regarding demographics, the impact of COVID-19 on mental health, sleep, fatigue, physical activity, and pain. There is also an additional optional interview portion of the study to offer participants the opportunity to discuss their lived experiences during the pandemic. 

-Physical assessments include measures of blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory function, body composition, balance, pain, as well as tests of fitness and muscular strength (see photos). In addition, there will be a smell/taste test. 

-Participants are also asked to wear a physical activity monitor for 7 days, which will collect data regarding daily activity behavior.
