Custodial services is responsible for maintaining a clean, healthy environment in all campus academic buildings and residence halls. Custodial services cleans almost four million square feet of area on a daily basis.

Services provided
The following represents examples of routine services provided by the custodial services area. These services are provided at no cost to the requesting departments:
- Clean Restrooms and replenish supplies
- Empty office waste baskets and recycling receptacles
- Clean classrooms
- Maintain public areas such as corridors, elevators and stairwells
- Vacuum carpets
- Refinish tile floors
- Shampoo carpets
- Wash windows
- Respond to emergencies such as pipe breaks, rain water damage requiring water pickup
- Provide bloodbourne pathogen cleanups
- Provide pest control services
Requests for services beyond the scope of those routinely provide will, upon request, be arranged by the Department of Facilities Services and funded by the requested department.
Cleaning program
The Department of Facilities Services has utilizes an alternative cleaning program described below. Facilities Services wants to provide the most cost effective, efficient service to the campus as possible while maintaining high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. The implementation of this program will help to achieve these goals.
The basic structure of the program is as follows:
- Private offices: Recycling, trash removal, and floor services will be provided on alternate days of the week. Typically, offices are cleaned twice per week, depending on usage.
- Classrooms and instructional areas: Mopping/vacuuming is typically provided on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, all other services will remain daily. Depending on the use of the classroom the floor service may be less than three days per week.
- Corridors and stairwells: Mopping/vacuuming is typically provided two or three times per week depending on usage or as needed during inclement conditions.
- High traffic public offices: These areas will have daily cleaning services to include mopping and vacuuming.
- Restrooms: These areas receive daily cleaning service.
Should the need arise for "fill in" service on days not scheduled, staff will be available to cover "emergencies".
