Director of Undergraduate Studies

Julia C. Paulk earned her doctorate at Indiana University, Bloomington, in 2003 with a dual specialization in Spanish American Literature and Comparative Literature. As an Associate Professor of Spanish at Marquette University, she publishes research on Latin American literature and teaches a variety of classes for the Spanish program.

Publications

Dr. Paulk has published research in a variety of prominent journals, such as Afro-Hispanic Review, Luso-Brazilian Review, and Latin American Literary Review. She has a book manuscript, Cuban Slavery Inside Out: Nonfiction Narratives of Cuban Slavery by Cuban and U.S. Writers, under review at a university press. Dr. Paulk’s most current research project focuses on the representation of Chinese workers in Cuban literature.
