4. Right of the University to Refuse Access
The university reserves the right to refuse access to the following records:

Financial statements submitted by the parent(s)/guardian or spouse. Such documents are not considered to be part of the student's education records and can only be accessed with written consent of the parent(s)/guardian or spouse.
- Letters and statements of recommendation for which the student has waived his/her right of access or that were placed in the file before Jan. 1, 1975.
- Records connected with an application to attend Marquette University, or a component unit of Marquette University, if that application was denied.
- Those records that are excluded from the FERPA definition of education records.
