• 2007-2009 Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, A Quality And Cost Analysis Of Nurse Practice Predictors of Readiness For Hospital Discharge And Post - Discharge Outcomes The goal of the study is to determine the impact of nurse staffing variables measured at the nursing unit level on the quality of discharge teaching and patient readiness for hospital discharge, and the subsequent impact on readmission and emergency department utilization in the 30 days post-hospital discharge. Role: Principal Investigator
• 2005-2010 National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, National Children’s Study — Waukesha County Vanguard Center The goal of the National Children’s Study is to investigate environmental effects on child health in a longitudinal study from preconception to age 21. Role: Co-investigator and member of the core management team. PI of the Marquette University subcontract under which field team nurses will be hired, trained, and supervised in performing all aspect of face-to-face data collection.
• 2005-2007 Healthy Wisconsin Partnership Program, PeriData: A Rural/Urban Information Network This grant provided support for implementation of the PeriData.net comprehensive perinatal database in rural hospitals in Wisconsin and for statewide training on the use of the PeriData.net network for quality monitoring and improvement efforts. Role: Consultant. Developed and conducted trainings and training materials on assessment and monitoring of perinatal quality using PeriData.net. 2005 Marquette University College of Nursing Regner Research Award, Postpartum Weight Management
• 2004 Regner Award. The goal of this study is to investigate the relationship of postpartum women’s plans and actions related to management of their weight after childbirth and to identify factors that influence this relationship within a framework of health behavior and behavior change. The interaction of cultural background and weight classification on weight management behaviors is being explored.
• 1999-2003 U50/CCU514563 State of Wisconsin / Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Cooperative Agreement, The Wisconsin Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Surveillance Project. The goal of the study was to estimate the prevalence of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome in Wisconsin using a four-stage prospective multi-source ascertainment approach. Role: Co-Investigator; Principal Investigator for Marquette University subcontract to locate and screen prospective subjects
• 1999-2002 Perinatal Foundation, Duplications and Gaps in Postpartum Follow-up in the City of Milwaukee. The goal of the study was to investigate availability of postpartum follow-up services in the city of Milwaukee. Role: Principal Investigator
