Transportation: Approximate travel time by car: 10 minutes Head east on Wisconsin Ave towards the lake. Turn right on N 6th St. At the traffic circle, continue on to N 6th St. Turn left on W Greenfield Ave and right on S 3rd St. Take the first left onto W Orchard St.

Approximate travel time by bus: 30 minutes Take the eastbound #30 bus and get off at Water and Wisconsin. Board the GRE bus towards N Airport – Via Oakland and get off at S 1st St and W Greenfield Ave. Walk south on S 1st St and turn right on W Orchard St.

Days/Hours of Operation: Students can volunteer Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30 – 10:30 am or 1-3 pm

Description of Agency/Activities: Angel of Hope Clinic serves men, women, and children who are poor, homeless, unemployed, working-poor and non-English speaking patients. A family nurse practitioner provides primary care services including screenings, nursing services, treatment of basic health needs to help improve the quality of life for the residents of the shelter and others in the community. Services include routine health exams, well-child exams, and vaccinations as well as walk in sick visits

Student Role at Agency: Service Learners will commit two hours to volunteer each week at the Angel of Hope Clinic. Students will spend most time working in reception area, assisting with intake and appointment reminders, as well as assisting clinic patients with completion of clinical forms and medical histories. Students are encouraged to utilize their time at the clinic and are invited to shadow translators and RNs when they are not needed in the reception area. Student may also be called upon to serve as a translator in the Hope House if needed.

Students should be able to effectively do the following in Spanish:

Orientation: You will have an orientation with Lynn your first day at Angel of Hope Clinic.

Special Requirements: Students interested in volunteering at this agency should bring immunization records to sign up night. A TB test is also required.
