Food Pantry

Address of Food pantry: 820 N. Plankinton

Transportation: You may take any of the following buses going east on Wisconsin Ave.: #10, #12,#14, #23, #30, #51. Get off the bus at Plankinton, walk north on Plankinton to Wells St. Site is located on Plankinton, between Wells and Kilbourn, in the middle of the block.

Approximate Travel Time By Car: 2 minutes
Approximate Travel Time By Bus: 5 minutes, then a 5 minute walk north from Wisconsin and Plankinton

Days/Hours of Operation:

HEAL 2045: Food Pantry: Mondays 9:00am-6:00pm, Tuesday-Thursday 9:00am-5:00pm

Student Role in Agency: The following positions are available. Please note which student role is being used for your course.

Requirements:

Other: Students will be working in a professional environment with sensitive information, therefore professional behavior is expected. The site depends on the volunteers each week, so students should be on time and ready to go every week.

Commitment: Orientation and training listed above, plus 2-3 hours per week for the semester.

 

Prevention Center

Address of Prevention Center: 3716 W. Wisconsin Ave

Transportation: You may take any of the following buses going west on Wisconsin Ave: GOL or 30. If you take the GOL, get off at 38th and Wisconsin, then walk east half a block. If you take the 30, get off at 35th and Wisconsin, then walk west one block.

Approximate Travel Time By Car: 5 minutes

Approximate Travel Time By Bus: 8 minutes, then a 2-4 minute walk

Days/Hours of Operation:

Hotline: Mon 12-4pm, Tue 10am-2pm, Wed 12-4pm, Thu 10am-4pm, NO FRI HOURS

Prevention: Mon 10am-6pm, Tue 10am-2pm, Wed 10am-6pm, Thu 10am-8pm, Fri 9am-5pm

Description of Agency/Activities: The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Inc. (ARCW) is a private, nonprofit health and social service agency that works to confront and alleviate the effects of HIV disease in Wisconsin. ARCW provides aggressive HIV education and prevention, access to comprehensive services for people affected by HIV disease, clinical research on HIV treatment, and HIV advocacy.
