Orientation for ARCW Food Pantry: TBDSeptember

Days/Hours of Volunteering: Students can find out specific days and times for service learning during the Service Learning Sign-Up Night. In the past most students have served at the organization Monday-Thursday 8am-6pm.

Description of Agency/Activities: The AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Inc. (ARCW) is a private, nonprofit health and social service agency that works to confront and alleviate the effects of HIV disease in Wisconsin. ARCW provides aggressive HIV education and prevention, access to comprehensive services for people affected by HIV disease, clinical research on HIV treatment, and HIV advocacy.

Student Role at Agency: ARCW has limited placements in this department. Students working here will be focused on the prevention aspect of HIV and AIDS. Scheduling will occur at orientation, so make sure to bring your class schedule! *Please note: The location of the prevention department is 3716 W. Wisconsin Avenue. Any student chosen for a position in the prevention department will receive information regarding this at orientation.

HEAL 2045: Normal and Therapeutic Nutrition Students Only: Students with work in the ARCW-Food Pantry. Students will help with food pantry operations-sorting and shelving grocercies, packing grocery bags, filling orders, stocking shelves, and loading and unloading deliveries.

ARCW Food Pantry:

Days/Hours of Service: Monday 9am-6pm, Tues-Thurs 9am-5pm

Orientation: First Day of Service

Student Role: Students will be sorting food, stocking shelves, bagging food orders, and helping load cars with meals.


Other: Students will be working in a professional environment with sensitive information, therefore professional behavior is expected. The site depends on the volunteers each week, so students should be on time and ready to go every week.
