Marquette salutes the Super Bowl XLV champion Green Bay Packers

Marquette and the Packers have a long-standing history, including:

Willie Davis, Packer great and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, served as a university Trustee.

Bob Harlan, the team’s chairman emeritus, received his undergraduate degree from Marquette.

In 1942, Marquette hosted the "Army All Stars vs. Green Bay Packers at MU Stadium.

Gene Ronzani: An All-American at Marquette, later served as the Packers’ second head coach.

Lisle Blackbourn: This Marquette football coach was also Green Bay’s third head coach.

Several Marquette football players played for the Packers prior to the modern era, including:

Lavern (Lavvie) Dilweg: An All-American end and alumnus of Marquette Law School, Dilweg’s grandson, Anthony Dilweg, played for the Packers in 1989-1990.

Joseph (Red) Dunn: From 1927-31, he led the team to three straight NFL championships. Dunn was inducted into the Packers Hall of Fame in 1976.

Green Bay Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy spoke at The Business Journal's Power Breakfast in June. Marquette is a proud sponsor of the breakfast series, where Murphy spoke about the Packers' business direction, Lambeau Field redevelopment plans and collective bargaining talks with NFL players.
