Marquette's College of Education will host the 2008-2009 Association of Marquette University Women's Chair in Humanistic Studies

The Marquette University College of Education will host Dr. Alberta M. Gloria, a professor of counseling at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, as the Association of Marquette University Women’s (AMUW) Chair in Humanistic Studies for 2008-2009.

Gloria brings her expertise in the psychological and socio-cultural factors affecting Hispanic and other racial and ethnic minority students in higher education to the position. The AMUW Chair was established in 1963 as a lectureship and endowed in 1989 to support a year-long appointment. The purpose of the chair is to celebrate the humanities and promote the role of women in higher education through bringing distinguished female scholars to campus.

Marquette names new director of Center for Supply Chain Management

Marquette University’s College of Business Administration has named Douglas A. Fisher, D.B.A., director of the Center for Supply Chain Management in the Department of Management. Fisher will join Marquette August 20 from Auburn University in Alabama, where he has taught since 2005. Fisher is also a partner at Cascade Consulting Partners Inc., a management consulting firm in Eugene, Ore., specializing in enterprise profit optimization.

College of Business Administration Undergraduate Programs noted in national rankings:

  • Business Week listed Marquette's College of Business Administration as 53th among undergraduate business programs in 2008, and 36th overall in the category of "Academic Quality Rank".[12]
  • Based on data from the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy, Marquette University students scored in the top ten nationally in many sections of the CPA exam [13]

New Provost and Deans

Dr. John J. Pauly, became Provost on July 21, 2008. Dr. Pauly previously was the Dean of the J. William & Mary Diederich College of Communication at Marquette.

Dr. Margaret Faut Callahan, became the Dean of the College of Nursing on July 1, 2008. She previously was the

Chairperson of Adult Health Nursing in Rush University's

College of Nursing in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Linda M. Salchenberger, became the Keyes Dean of the College of Business Administration on August 15, 2008. She previously was the associate dean of academics in Northwestern University's School of Continuing Studies.

Dr. Jeanne M. Hossenlopp, has been named interim Dean for the Helen Way Klingler College of Arts and Sciences for academic year 2008-09. Dr. Hossenlopp previously was the chair of the Department of Chemistry at Marquette.

Dr. Lynn H. Turner, has been named interim Dean for the

J. William & Mary Diederich College of Communication for academic year 2008-09.
