The COS deals with matters of special interest and concerns of Support Staff members and advises Marquette's administration through the Vice President and General Counsel. The COS welcomes any comments or ideas that can help improve the work environment for all support staff at Marquette University. Contact your area representative with comments and concerns for COS. Regularly scheduled, open meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month and all Support Staff members are invited to attend. The Executive Board meets when necessary and consists of the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and Historian.
The mission of the Committee on Staff is to strengthen Marquette's mission by encouraging excellence, faith, leadership, and service in university offices and workplaces. Committee on Staff is dedicated to serving as a liaison between Marquette's support staff and the University administration. The committee advocates on behalf of support staff and encourages university improvements at the policy level.
COS was established in October of 1981 (with the formal approval of its by-laws in February, 1982) and serves as a liaison between Marquette's approximately 700 regular, non-union Support Staff and University Administration. The COS also maintains a close working relationship with two other representative bodies of the University: The Committee on Administrators and the Faculty Council.
COS was established to facilitate matters of special interest and concern to Marquette University support staff; to foster professional development opportunities; to further the mission of the University; and advise Marquette's Administration through the Vice President and General Counsel.
Support staff are encouraged to contact their building or area representative with ideas and input that will contribute to an improved work environment and/or further the university mission.
