Born and raised in Moscow (Russia), Eugenia Afinoguénova received the equivalents of B.A. and M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Moscow State University (a.k.a. MGU), and a Ph.D. in Spanish Peninsular Literature and Cultural Studies from Georgetown University. She joined Marquette University Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures in 1999. She has taught a variety of undergraduate and graduate courses in contemporary Spanish literature, culture, and film. Her current teaching and research focuses on Spanish tourism and the cultural history of the Prado Museum in Madrid. Her leisure time (when available) is dedicated to dancing West Coast Swing in Milwaukee and Flamenco in Madrid.
