NEWS AND UPCOMING EVENTS

March 30: The German Studies Program has invited Viktorija Bilic, from UW-Milwaukee, to talk about the art of German-English translation, its many challenges, and the UWM program in Translation and Interpreting Studies. The talk will be from 11:00 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. and a light lunch will be served afterwards. Please contact John.Pustejovsky@marquette.edu with any questions that you may have.

March 30: Dr. Enaya Othman, Assistant Professor of Arabic will be the keynote speaker at the Conference on Gender, Peace, and Conflict by Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies and Alverno College; "Engagement Beyond Research: Muslim Women's Agency and Oral History in Wisconsin"

This Fall, SPAN 4640: Criminal Minds: Latin American Deective Fiction; Monday and Wednesday 3:30-4:45 p.m.

April 20: Henriette's Story "Carrying Divine" A Rwandan Genocide Survivor Story. 4:00 p.m., Raynor Library, Beamier Suites.

Marquette University has received a $125,000 grant from the Rudolph and Helga Kaden Memorial Fund to establish a German summer studies program.

Congratulations to:

Dr. Eugenia Afinoguénova, Professor of Spanish, for receiving the Way Klingler Fellowship Award. The Way Klingler Fellowships are for full-time regular faculty at the Associate or Full Professor rank who have potential for significant scholarship.

Dr. Jeffrey Coleman, Assistant Professor of Spanish has received a six-month Career Enhancement Fellowship for Junior Faculty.
