One thing Craig Koshkarian remembers about being at Marquette is giving back. "When I was a student," he says, "Marquette always emphasized it. I took that attitude with me when I graduated."

Koshkarian, a Chicago native who works in commercial real estate lending in his hometown, started giving right away. "It's not important how much you give, just that you do," he says. "When I was looking for places to give to, I thought why not Marquette? It's now become a place to focus my giving."
Since graduation, he has given regularly to the university's annual appeal, the Blue & Gold Fund and College of Business Administration solicitations.
Koshkarian was a finance major and political science minor at Marquette. "The great thing about Marquette is that you could get into your chosen major right away," he says. "At the same time, the university required that everyone get a well-rounded liberal arts education. Those were my favorite things about going to Marquette, and they help me in my career today."
Koshkarian enjoys seeing his gifts working at the university. "What's great is that you get to see the tangible results of your giving," he says. "You see it in new buildings, the Raynor Library, the neighborhood, Wisconsin Avenue, how great the athletic teams are doing, and the high admission numbers the university gets now. I get up to Marquette for games and I see it.
"The better Marquette looks, the better your degree looks. That's what I find rewarding. Not only does giving help faculty and students and the university, but it also makes your own credentials look even better. And if you're lucky enough to get into a company that matches your gifts, you can make an even greater impact."
