With the support of the Atlantic Council of the United States, the Center for Transnational Justice, and the Department of Political Science, Samantha Whaley (International Affairs major, class of 2011) participated as a Youth Delegate at the 55th Annual General Assembly of the Atlantic Treaty Association in Kiev, Ukraine. The conference theme was “Security for Civil Society in the 21st Century,” and over the course of three days Samantha and students from forty other countries went to panel presentations focusing on topics that included “NATO’s New Strategic Concept,” “The Way Ahead for Afghanistan,” and “NATO Enlargements and Partnerships.” When not participating in the conference in Ukraine, Samantha spent the fall semester studying in Istanbul, Turkey.
