When applying to medical school or dental school, timing is critical. You should have your entire primary application submitted via AMCAS, AACOMAS or AADSAS by early to mid-June. Though having your letters of recommendation in is not part of submitting these primary applications, some of the information in your letter packet will help you with the primary applications. We recommend starting your letter of recommendation packet in January of your application year (usually junior year), and making sure it is complete and turned in by March. This includes having contacted all your letter writers to ensure they are willing to write you strong letters.
Letter of recommendation services are available through the Klingler College of Arts and Sciences and the College of Health Sciences.
You can request that the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Health Sciences collects and sends letters of recommendation to the medical and dental schools to which you apply. Requests for letters of recommendation are normally begun second semester of junior year so that such letters might be included as part of the final application process.
Stop by the Arts and Sciences college office in Sensenbrenner Hall, first floor, to learn more about this unique service.
Please visit the Letter of Recommendation Service page on the College of Health Sciences' website to download and complete the appropriate paperwork. The College of Health Sciences office in Schroeder Complex 244 can help with this process.
Students in colleges other than the College of Arts and Sciences or the College of Health Sciences can elect to use either service mentioned above.
