Haggerty Awards Dinner 2023

BREAKING NEWS: A private, behind-the-scenes tour of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center’s Art Preserve will be up for auction at the Haggerty Awards Dinner!

Don't miss this exclusive opportunity for a very special experience at a place described by the New York Times as "The unrivaled Art Preserve in Sheboygan, Wis."

Your tour for ten guests led by an Arts Center curator will last approximately ninety minutes, and include special access to collections objects not normally on view. The experience concludes with a hosted happy hour and light snacks at the building’s tavern, The Fred Smith Bar. Date to be arranged by mutual agreement. You don't have to be present to bid - just call the Haggerty Museum of Art's office at 414.288.7290 and place a proxy bid by noon on Wednesday, June 21.

The Art Preserve of the John Michael Kohler Arts Center is the only facility in the world dedicated to the study and preservation of artist-built environments--a  category of artistic practice in which an artist completely transforms their home, studio, or yard into a total work of art. Often monumental, these expressions take the shape of embellished houses, large-scale concrete sculptures, and immersive evocations of artists’ homes. Opened in 2021, the Art Preserve is a singular experience, combining visible storage, curated collection areas of over thirty artists’ work, and commissioned artist responses and washrooms.

About the Awards
The Kairos Award recognizes exceptional achievements in the arts--including the advancement of the arts--through activities at Marquette University and beyond. The Greek word “kairos,” which means “the creative moment in time,” has been chosen to symbolize the spirit of this award. The Patricia B. Apple Award recognizes individuals whose service has made a lasting impact on the Friends of the Haggerty Museum of Art. The award is named for Patricia B. Apple, chair of the fundraising campaign to build the Haggerty Museum of Art and inaugural president of Marquette University's Women’s Council.
