For the 2017-18 academic year

The McCormick Inclusive Leadership CommUNITY is a living/learning program open to all freshman students of any racial, ethnic or cultural background. To be considered for participation in this program, which gives you an opportunity to interact with and learn from students of other cultures in an environment that is accepting of all people, you must complete this agreement. You should submit this agreement, along with a housing application, to the Office of Residence Life. Space in this program is limited and will be filled by students based on the date they submit this agreement. If you are not selected for participation in the McCormick Hall Inclusive Leadership CommUNITY, the Office of Residence Life will do its best to accommodate the housing preferences indicated on your housing application.

Experience with or exposure to diverse cultures is not required. Prerequisites for membership in CommUNITY are an interest in and a desire to learn about other cultures and a willingness to embrace new experiences.

If I'm accepted into the program and choose to participate, I agree to the following:
  • I will be housed in McCormick Hall with other participants.
  • I will enroll in the 1.5-credit-hour course Dynamics of Cross Cultural Engagement both semesters of the 2017-18 academic year. These credit hours will factor into my TOTAL credit hours each semester. Completion of both semesters of the class fulfills the diverse cultures core course requirement. To fulfill the university's requirement, I agree to enroll in one of the following sections of the course: Tuesday 5:00 – 6:15 p.m. or Wednesday 5:00 – 6:15 p.m.
  •  I will participate in the overnight retreat weekend September 9-10.
  • I will actively participate in CommUNITY programs, which offer educational, service and social opportunities.
  • I will, as a result, actively contribute to the greater McCormick Hall and Marquette communities.

Note: Preference for this program takes priority over preference for a roommate. If you are accepted into this program but your preferred roommate is not, you will be assigned to housing designated for this program and placed with an alternate roommate.
I understand that if I am accepted into this program and choose to participate, I will be housed in McCormick Hall with other participants. I also agree to enroll in Dynamics of Cross Cultural Engagement, a two-semester course required of all participants. I understand that I will receive 1.5 credit hours only upon successful completion of each semester. I agree to allow space for 1.5 credit hours of this course in my schedule each semester of the 2017–18 academic year.
