The Benefits of Being a Mentor

In addition to helping a student grow and supporting the business profession, you have accomplished much more in your role as a mentor. The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association has created a list of the positive outcomes of a mentoring relationship for a mentor that we hope will help you to reflect on the numerous benefits of your participation in Marquette's College of Business Administration Mentor Program. These benefits include:

  • Ongoing attention to your own career development
  • The satisfaction of sharing your wisdom and experience with others
  • Enhancement of coaching, leadership, management, and recruiting skills
  • Exposure to diverse thoughts, styles, personalities, and cultures
  • Exposure to the emerging talent pool
  • Opportunities for recruitment to your profession and/or your employment setting
  • A way to give back to your association and/or profession
