History: St. Leo Church, Pipestone, now a member-parish of the Tri-Parish Catholic Community, has been a predominantly non-Native American in the Diocese of Winona-Rochester (Archives: Rochester, Minnesota). Rochester diocesan priests at St. Leo’s had attended to Native American students (e.g. Dakota-Lakota, Ojibwa) at the Pipestone Government Indian School, 1890s-1953.
