History: Founded by St. Benedict in 5th century Italy, the Benedictines self-identify with the post-nominal initials, “O.S.B.” and established St. John’s Abbey, 1856. Benedictines at St. John's administered the following Native American (Ojibwa) parishes in Minnesota:
