History: The Diocese of Durango was erected for California, Chihuahua, Florida, Louisiana, New Mexico, and Sonora from territory in the Diocese of Guadalajara, 1620. Durango and its predecessors administered these Native American missions in present-day Arizona, California, New Mexico, and Texas:
