History: Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Porciuncula de los Pecos Mission, Pecos Pueblo, New Mexico, was a Native American mission in the present-day Archdiocese of Santa Fe.

The Juan de Oñate expedition observed the feast of Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Porciuncula on August 2nd while ascending the Rio Grande valley

Franciscans (Santo Evangelico Province) (Archives: Puebla, Mexico) began evangelizing the residents of Pecos Pueblo

Fray Andrés Juárez, O.F.M. established and the Franciscans administered Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Porciuncula de los Pecos Mission, Pecos Pueblo

Franciscans reestablished and administered the mission

Franciscans attended the mission from San Miguel, Ribera/ San Miguel

Residents of Pecos Pueblo emigrated to Jemez Pueblo (Jemez), which spoke the same language

On August 2nd or on the following Sunday, the parishioners of St. Anthony/ San Antonio de Pecos Church have continued the annual feast-day celebration honoring Porciuncula with a procession from St. Anthony’s to Nuestra Señora de los Ángeles de Porciuncula de los Pecos Mission, now in Pecos National Historical Park, Pecos, New Mexico

Descendants of Pecos Pueblo at Jemez Pueblo have participated in the celebration
