History: The Diocese of Valleyfield was erected from territory in the Montreal Archdiocese, from southwest of that city south to the U.S. border, 1892. Valleyfield and its predecessors administered St. Regis Mission (Mohawk), St. Regis [Akwesasne], St. Regis Reserve/ Reservation, Quebec-New York, 1892-1970s (transferred to Ogdensburg Diocese, New York).
