Administrative History: The position of Vice President for Academic Affairs was created in 1954. It was assigned general and executive responsibility for the administration and supervision of the university’s undergraduate, graduate and professional schools and various academic support programs. The position was discontinued in 2002, with many core responsibilities transferred to the newly created Office of Provost (see A-1.4 Office of the Provost).
