Ex Libris: From 1776 to Raynor Library

As the United States celebrates its 250th year of independence, a linkage to the country's birth has been discovered among the books in Raynor Library. Tucked in the covers of Raynor Library's Discours sur l'histoire ecclesiastique is a bookplate showing that the volume was once owned by Charles Carroll (1737-1832). Carroll was not only the sole Catholic signatory of the Declaration of Independence but also Jesuit-educated.
