RHA’s Remove the Blindfold is a two-part social justice program that begins Tuesday February 17th at 7pm in the Weasler Auditorium with speaker Richard Hebron. This year’s focus is homelessness. The goal of Richard’s message is to change the way people think about people, which Richard believes is the first step to society changing the way it views homelessness and homeless individuals. The second part of the program begins Thursday, February 19th in AMU 163 from 5:00pm- 10:00pm. The campus community is invited to walk-through a series of experiences, which present theoretical scenarios of a “day in the life” of someone who is homeless.
This event promotes awareness about social justice issues in today's world. The experience of attending Justice and Java & Remove the Blindfold should stimulate thoughts, feelings, and emotions around the issues and images presented. The hope is that through this experience, students will become more aware of social injustices and move toward positive change by taking action.
