Family Weekend 2017

General information

Family Weekend is an annual weekend each fall for parents and families to connect with their students, Marquette, and the city of Milwaukee. Events are open to all family members of Marquette students. Mark your calendar for Family Weekend 2017: Fri, Sept 29 - Sun, Oct 1!

Family Weekend Parking Information
Both the 16th Street (749 W. 16th St) and Wells Street (1240 W. Wells St) parking garages will be open and ready for Family Weekend. Parking will be provided for Families at no cost!

Family Weekend Check-In Information
You do not need to print or bring your Explore Marquette tickets with you to campus. Once you arrive, please pick up your Family Weekend tickets at check-in, open from 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Fri, 9/29 and from 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. on Sat, 9/30 on the 2nd floor of the Alumni Memorial Union (1442 W. Wisconsin Ave, Milwaukee, WI).

EXPLORE MARQUETTE events include a variety of on-campus, family-friendly events. While some Explore Marquette events require tickets and advanced registration, many are free and open to families to come and go as they choose throughout the weekend.

Al McGuire Center Tour

Al McGuire Center, 770 N. 12th Street
Located in the heart of campus, this practice and play facility features a 4,000-seat arena in which women's basketball and women's volleyball compete and includes a full-sized practice gym. Stop by "The Al" to explore storied history of Marquette athletics and pick up schedules and ticket information for all 14 of the university's Division I sports teams. Meet your tour guide at the main entrance.

Union Sports Annex

Strike up some family-friendly competition! Food and beverages are available for purchase from the WOW Café. Siblings under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Bowling is a popular Family Weekend activity, and will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Pay $2.75 per person per game, and $1.50 for shoe rental at the bowling service counter.

Pumpkin and Apple Picking

Bus leaves from campus
Pick-your-own apples and pumpkins at the local family-owned and operated Barthel Fruit Farm in Mequon, WI. Visit www.barthelfruitfarm.com for prices and apple varieties that will be available for pick-your-own. Bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. and returns to campus by 11:30 a.m. $4 per person.

Helfaer Theatre
is a heart-warming musical, recently updated with music from multiple popular artists, that shines the spotlight on everyday workers. The schoolteacher, millworker, housewife, and other often forgotten individuals lend their voices to the chorus in this tribute to the American workforce. No matter the occupation, together these individual stories of real people unite us all.

Chorus Concert

Varsity Theatre
The Marquette University Chorus is the longest standing choral organization on campus. The chorus is comprised of undergraduate and graduate students. The four choirs in the program are the MU Chorus, Women’s Choir, Men’s Choir, and Chamber Choir. This concert blends a wide variety of contemporary, traditional, and popular selections. Come and enjoy an hour of excellent choral music.


Acatoberfest: Marquette A Capella Invitational

Varsity Theatre
A showcase performance featuring Marquette's three talented acapella groups and other collegiate groups. The Naturals, Gold 'n Blues and Meladies will take the stage in a vocal concert unlike any Marquette has hosted before.

The Marquette Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band join forces for a concert of fun and popular music. Historic Milwaukee Walking Tours

Take part in the city's only daily walking tour of Milwaukee. Spend 90 minutes learning about the history and architecture of Milwaukee.

Pabst Mansion Tours

The Pabst Mansion is one of Milwaukee's finest mansions and now a house museum that preserves and legacy of the Pabst family and their impact on the citizens, history and culture of the Greater Milwaukee community.
