Pulitzer Prize winner announced as commencement speaker
Pulitzer Prize-winning author David McCullough will be the speaker for Marquette University's spring 2011 Commencement ceremony, Sunday, May 22.
Commencement is held not only to recognize the achievements of our graduates but also to acknowledge parents, family members and others for their support. Please visit the Commencement website for details about the weekend, including individual college programs, hotels near campus and other useful information.
Career Services to host career fair
The Career Services Center will sponsor the Spring Into Action Career Fair, Tuesday, April 19, in the Alumni Memorial Union. Companies attending the fair have openings for graduating seniors seeking full-time positions and/or internships for sophomores and juniors.
Marquette open house for high school sophomores and juniors
On Sunday, April 16, Marquette will host an open house for high school sophomores and juniors who are beginning their college search. During the day, parents and students will learn how to conduct a successful college search and learn more about the different programs offered at Marquette. Graduate school open house
Is your son or daughter considering graduate or professional school? Marquette's Graduate School will host an open house Thursday, April 7. Students will have the opportunity to hear about the 40-plus programs offered by Marquette and meet other students who are considering graduate programs. Students are encouraged to register if they plan to attend. The Graduate School of Management will also hold an information session that evening. Register online.
Summer class registration is open
Marquette's 500-plus summer courses offer students the opportunity to get a head start on the fall, fit in a required course or take a class of personal interest. Domestic and foreign travel programs also provide exciting off-campus travel experience. With small class sizes and flexible evening and weekend courses, student can earn credits in just six weeks.
New video: humanitarian Paul Farmer
As Marquette's Mission Week 2011 keynote speaker, Dr. Paul Farmer embraced the theme of Imagine God. Farmer shared stories and images of failed imagination in Haiti and elsewhere and described Partners In Health, an organization he leads that is working to bring health equity to its project sites around the world.

Admiral Michael G. Mullen, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will speak at Marquette on Tuesday, April 5. The visit is part of a series of appearances across the country called "Conversation with the Country."
Pre-registration has closed for Lil' Sibs weekend, but day-of registration will be offered Friday, April 15, from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon in the second-floor lobby of the Alumni Memorial Union. Registration and waiver forms should be completed before arriving on campus.
Lil' Sibs Weekend is an opportunity for Marquette students to invite their siblings, cousins, other relatives or family friends to visit them on campus. During the weekend, students and siblings will have an opportunity to participate in Hunger Clean-Up, along with age-appropriate activities sponsored by a variety of campus organizations.

NCAA tournament runs cap off exciting basketball seasons
The Marquette men's and women's basketball seasons both ended with exciting runs in their respective NCAA tournaments. The men's season ended with a loss in the Sweet 16 to North Carolina after exciting wins against Xavier and Syracuse. The women's team also capped a successful season with an NCAA Tournament run. After a first-round victory over Texas, the women lost a close game to No. 1 seed Tennessee.
