Marquette partners with Better Business Bureau to offer free cyber security events

October 12, 2017

MILWAUKEE — Marquette University and the Better Business Bureau Serving Wisconsin will partner to offer several free cyber security events.

This partnership is designed to engage and educate the public and private sector and provide tools and resources needed to stay safe online.

"The cyber world is more treacherous than many small businesses believe," said Thomas Kaczmarek, director of Marquette's Center for Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Defense. "We have developed a workshop exercise to teach smaller organizations about the threats and help them start to use a cyber security framework to protect and prepare."

These events will be held at Marquette and will take place in October to commemorate National Cyber Security Awareness Month, an annual campaign to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity.

"We are excited to team up with Marquette University to offer these free seminars for a common goal — protection through education," says Jim Temmer, BBB CEO and President. "We want individuals and businesses of all sizes to take action toward protecting themselves from cyber threats and attacks, and the first step in prevention is awareness."
