Communication professor to keynote international conference

Dr. Robert Shuter will discuss 'Intercultural New Media Studies'

MILWAUKEE — Dr. Robert Shuter, professor emeritus of communication studies at Marquette University, on July 8 will deliver a keynote address at the International Association of Intercultural Communication Studies conference at DePaul University in Chicago.

Shuter's address, Intercultural New Media Studies: The New Frontier in Intercultural Communication, will examine the impact of new media on intercultural communication and explore the influence of new media on crucial dynamics of intercultural communication, including their potential for increasing intercultural dialogue and reducing conflict across cultures.

Shuter, who is also a research professor at Arizona State University Hugh Downs School of Human Communication, is a pioneer and thought leader in intercultural communication studies, with more than 90 publications on the topic. He is the executive director and founder of the Center for Intercultural New Media Research, a scholarly network of more than 375 research associates in 55 countries.
