MILWAUKEE — Marquette University will celebrate the holiday season with "Igniting Hope," the annual campus-wide Christmas event, on Monday, Dec. 3.
The goal of Igniting Hope is to unite students and the community while welcoming the holiday season to campus.
The main event, the Christmas tree-lighting ceremony, will take place at 5 p.m. in Westowne Square, adjacent to the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave. To continue the festivities, a reception will follow until 7 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union Monaghan Ballrooms. There will be a hot chocolate bar, holiday desserts, a winter photo booth, crafts and carols sung by campus acapella groups. Students will be able to make cards and tie blankets for kids spending their holidays at Children's Hospital.
Before the tree-lighting ceremony, students will serve the community by handing out donations and hot chocolate at the 12th Street and 16th Street bus stops on campus from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
