Celebrate the season with Marquette's acappella groups and gospel choir
Musical celebrations are a hallmark of the Christmas season. Two upcoming concerts at Marquette will put you in a festive mood.

Catch the Marquette University Gospel Choir as it presents "Harmony for the Holidays" on Dec. 7 at 7p.m. in the Weasler Auditorium.

There's only one time a year when you can see three Marquette acappella groups in one place. See The Naturals, The Meladies and the Gold 'n Blues in the fourth annual Hope for the Holidays Christmas concert on Friday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in Marquette Hall 100. $5 suggested donation at the door. All proceeds will benefit the California Fire Foundation.

The history and significance of Advent
In Latin, "advent" means "the coming." Rev. Fred Zagone, S.J., acting vice president for mission and ministry is able to provide Advent's historical basis and the significance of this season of preparation.

Sales, coupons, late store hours, layaway programs, gift cards. Like it or not, retail shopping is a significant part of the holiday season. Tips for safe snow shoveling and fitness in the new year
Everyone dreams of a white Christmas, but it often comes with a cost: shoveling. More than a simple annoyance, shoveling can put a lot of strain on the body and even cause serious injury if not done properly. Christopher Geiser, clinical assistant professor of exercise science and athletic training director, can discuss how to prepare for shoveling and what to do when you wake up with a sore back.

Thinking of making a new year's resolution to become more fit? Prevent injuries by starting off fitness regimens with safety in mind. Geiser is available to discuss how to safely start exercise programs in the new year.
