Lt. Governor Barnes to speak to two Marquette Upward Bound groups

Wisconsin Lt. Governor Mandela BarnesMILWAUKEE — Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes will present to both Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science students on water quality when he speaks to the groups on Tuesday, June 18, at Marquette Hall, 1217 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Barnes will follow the students’ presentations on water quality, focusing on the importance of water quality, especially as it relates to drinking water in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. He will then field questions from students.

The session runs from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and is not open to the public. Media interested in attending should contact Kevin Conway at kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu.

Upward Bound and Upward Bound Math and Science are pre-college programs within the Educational Opportunity Program and are funded by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Federal TRIO Programs. Marquette’s EOP program, which is an academic program that motivates and enables low-income and first-generation students whose parents do not have a baccalaureate degree to enter and succeed in higher education, is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019.
