PHOTO/VIDEO OP: Statue to be installed in Marquette University’s Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary

MILWAUKEE — Marquette University will have its statue of Mary installed in the Grotto of the Blessed Virgin Mary on Monday, April 15, at 10 a.m. The grotto is located behind St. Joan of Arc Chapel on the on the south side of campus, west of the Raynor Memorial Libraries.

The official dedication of the statue will take place on May 1.

President Michael R. Lovell’s vision for the grotto was part of a final project for an intensive 18-month Ignatian Colleagues program and was announced in December of 2017. The statue of Mary was commissioned this past summer from Demetz Art Studio of Ortisei BZ, Italy.

Place: St. Joan of Arc Chapel. Parking for St. Joan of Arc Chapel is available in the 16th Street Parking Structure.
