Marquette visiting professor of nursing research honored with bipartisan leadership award in Washington, D.C.

Lisa Grabert, M.P.H.MILWAUKEE — Lisa Grabert, M.P.H., visiting professor of research in the Marquette University College of Nursing, received the Alliance for Health Policy’s Bipartisan Health Policy Leader Award at the alliance’s annual dinner on Oct. 15, in Washington, D.C.

The Alliance for Health Policy recognizes two honorees annually for their outstanding work in health care and tireless efforts to improve health care in a bipartisan and collaborative manner. Grabert has stood out for an ongoing commitment in bringing together multiple viewpoints and differing perspectives throughout her career.

Prior to her role at Marquette, Grabert was a senior aide for the U.S. Representatives House Ways and Means Committee, handling responsibility over the Medicare Part A portfolio. She also previously served as a senior associate director of policy at the American Hospital Association, working with hospitals on quality and payment issues, and as a policy analyst at the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, implementing national performance-based payment programs.

Grabert is also a research professor at Georgetown University, beginning her appointment at the two Jesuit institutions in June 2018. Her areas of academic interest are Medicare, Medicaid and health insurance. Her subspecialties are government regulatory and reimbursement systems and how those systems impact patient care and the supply of health care facilities.

For over 25 years, the Alliance for Health Policy has served as a nonpartisan forum, bringing together dedicated leaders and experts for a balanced exchange of evidence, experience and multiple perspectives on health and health care issues.
