Marquette statement on U.S. Capitol Violence (Jan. 7)

The following is a statement on behalf of Marquette University regarding the violence that took place at the U.S. Capitol Building on Jan. 6.

"Marquette University condemns the violence that took place in our nation’s capital yesterday and the efforts to undermine our democracy. We continue to pray for the health and safety of those sworn to uphold and preserve the laws and electoral processes of our country."

Marquette University President Michael R. Lovell joined the presidents of the Jesuit colleges and universities in the United States in calling for an end to violence.
