Feb. 25, 2021

Reggie MooreMILWAUKEE — Reggie Moore, director of the Office of Violence Prevention in the City of Milwaukee Health Department, will discuss violence during the pandemic as the featured guest at an upcoming virtual “On the Issues with Mike Gousha,” Friday, Feb. 26.

The video will be available at 12:15 p.m. on the Marquette Law School website.

Last year was a violent one for many cities across the country, and Milwaukee was not immune to the increased crime rates. There were 189 homicides in Milwaukee, a new record, and nearly twice as many as the previous year. The Office of Violence Prevention promotes strategies to reduce violence in neighborhoods, families and schools. Moore oversees the development and execution of strategy, programs and partnerships to advance a public health approach to violence prevention. In this conversation, Moore and Gousha will discuss how we explain this surge in violence and what can be done to address it.

The virtual “On the Issues” is available to all members of the general public.

Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, debates featuring candidates in significant political races, Gousha’s “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on significant issues of public importance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School serves as the region’s leading venue for civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
