July 14, 2022

Joe Wall and Jim ValentineMILWAUKEE — Marquette University’s College of Business Administration today announced new leadership for its highly selective and nationally respected Applied Investment Management program. Dr. Joe Wall, associate professor and Flynn Chair of Accounting Ethics and Disruptive Technologies, has been named the inaugural executive director of AIM. Industry veteran Dr. Jim Valentine, CFA, associate professor of practice in finance, will become the new director of AIM.

This new leadership model follows the retirement of founder and longtime AIM Director Dr. David Krause, who built the program to national renown and led Marquette to become the first Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) partner school. As director of AIM, Valentine will lead the program’s longtime focus on equity research, analysis and portfolio management, continuing Krause’s legacy. Wall will work with Valentine to modernize the AIM curriculum further to produce nationally sought-after investment management talent capable of generating excess returns from unique valuation approaches.

“The AIM program is among Marquette Business’ most competitive and prestigious undergraduate programs, and we are fortunate to have Joe Wall and Jim Valentine continuing that legacy as executive director and director, respectively,” said Tim Hanley, acting Keyes Dean of the College of Business Administration. “Each brings the ideal balance of industry experience and connections paired with a keen understanding of modern business education at the university level. I am excited to watch AIM flourish for the next generation of students.”
