Marquette University named sixth-best employer in Wisconsin by Forbes

University will host career fair for staff positions across campus, Sept. 12

Image from Mission Convocation for new employeesMILWAUKEE — Marquette University was named the sixth-best employer in Wisconsin by Forbes following a national survey of 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees.

Forbes’ list ranked 1,382 employers, spanning each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia. Marquette was the highest-ranked employer headquartered in Milwaukee and was second among three universities that were ranked in the top 10.

“The Catholic, Jesuit values in which Marquette is rooted provide the framework for all we do,” said Claudia Paetsch, vice president for human resources. “It resonates with our faculty and staff — that we contribute to an important and meaningful mission to be the difference for our students, each other as colleagues, our community and the world. Our employee engagement survey results reflect that this differentiates us as an employer.”

Marquette will host a Career Fair, featuring onsite applications and interviews, on Monday, Sept. 12, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Union. The university is currently hiring for staff positions across campus, including Student Affairs; Marquette University Police Department; Custodial and Facilities Services; Maintenance; University Advancement; Admissions; Dental; Child Care; IT Services; University Relations; Career Services; and Financial Services.

About the Forbes Best Employers rankings
Forbes partnered with market research company Statista to compile its fourth annual list of America’s Best Employers By State. To determine the list, Statista surveyed 70,000 Americans working for businesses with at least 500 employees. All the surveys were anonymous, allowing participants to openly share their opinions. The respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including safety of work environment, competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement and openness to telecommuting. Statista then asked respondents how likely they’d be to recommend their employer to others, and to nominate organizations in industries outside their own. The number of businesses ranked in each state was dependent on two factors—the number of qualifying employers and the size of the state’s workforce—and those with operations in more than one state had the opportunity to be listed multiple times.
