‘Get to Know’ director of the Port of Milwaukee at Marquette Law School, Oct. 11
Oct. 5, 2023
MILWAUKEE — Jackie Q. Carter, director of the Port of Milwaukee, will be the next guest in the “Get to Know” program series at Marquette University Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, on Wednesday, Oct. 11, at 12:15 p.m. at Eckstein Hall, 1215 W. Michigan St.
Derek Mosley, director of the Lubar Center, hosts the “Get to Know” series, which is styled as “more late-night talk show than ‘Meet the Press.’” Online registration is available for this free, public event. Media wishing to attend should contact Kevin Conway at email@example.com.
Carter made history earlier this year by being the first woman and person of color to be appointed to the director position with the Port of Milwaukee. A lifelong resident of Milwaukee, Carter has worked in the local nonprofit and public sector for more than 20 years. Most recently, she was the finance and administration officer for the port, overseeing business, human resources, and administrative operations. Carter earned an M.B.A. with an emphasis in public administration from Concordia University and holds a B.A. from Alverno College. She is a wife, mother, and minister.
The Port of Milwaukee includes 400 acres where shipping, rail, and over-the-road transportation moves goods, services, and people through the region. The Port of Milwaukee is bigger than Chicago’s port and is vital to Milwaukee’s economy. The port also serves as Milwaukee’s doorway to an exotic, international marketplace.
Through public programming such as the Marquette Law School Poll, “On the Issues” conversations with newsmakers, public lectures by leading scholars, conferences on issues of public significance, and the work of its Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, Marquette Law School seeks to advance civil discourse about law and public policy matters.
