Milwaukee mayor to deliver keynote at Marquette’s 12th annual Real Estate Strategies Conference, May 3

Mayor Cavalier JohnsonMILWAUKEE — Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson will deliver a keynote address, “Milwaukee's Bold Vision: 1 Million Residents,” at the Marquette University Center for Real Estate’s 12th annual Real Estate Strategies Conference, Wednesday, May 3, from 8 a.m. to noon at the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.

John Johnson, research fellow in Marquette Law School’s Lubar Center for Public Policy Research and Civic Education, will follow Mayor Johnson with a keynote presentation and discussion, “Growing Milwaukee's Population to 1 Million: Lessons Learned from Peer Cities and Ideas for How It Will Happen.”

The two keynotes tie into this year’s conference theme, “We're Building It, Will They Come?” From adaptive reuse to transit-oriented development and public-private partnerships to community engagement and cultural amenities, the conference will focus on the innovative strategies and real-world examples that are transforming Milwaukee, Chicago and beyond, and creating more vibrant and inclusive communities.

Real estate executives will also weigh in during a panel, “We're Building It, Will They Come? A Real Estate Perspective.” Panelists include Ivan Gamboa, senior vice president at Tri City National Bank; Linda Gorens-Levey, partner at General Capital Group; S.R. Mills, CEO at Bear Development; and Kevin Newell, CEO of Royal Capital Group.

Through innovative teaching, research and outreach, the Center for Real Estate aims to deepen commercial real estate knowledge at Marquette, in Milwaukee, across the Midwest and throughout the nation.
