Hartland, Wis.

One of the earliest champions of the College of Business Administration’s marquee Applied Investment Management program, Dan has long been a leader by example for Marquette Business.

To him, success is “watching students and younger people who I have mentored have success of their own in both professional and personal settings.”

Managing director and senior portfolio manager at Robert W. Baird & Co. since 2000, Dan has more than 27 years of investment experience managing a broad range of fixed-income portfolios. Currently, he plays a lead role in research and strategy development in the mortgage and asset-backed sectors.

Dan received the Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1993, and today he is a member of the CFA Institute and a member of the CFA Society Milwaukee. Prior to joining Baird, Dan was a senior vice president and senior portfolio manager with Firstar Investment Research and Management Company.

Currently a member of the Dean’s Leadership Council, Dan received the Business Administration Young Alumnus Award in 2004. He also served as president of the Business Administration Alumni Association from 1999–2000.

Dan and his wife, Irene, have five children: Zach; Lauren, Comm ’16; Talia, a sophomore in the College of Health Sciences; Alexander; and Jameson.

Fun Facts:
Influential faculty member: Joe Terrian. I was new to Milwaukee, a transfer student and from a very small town. Joe took me under his wing and acclimated me to the university and the college. Joe remains one of my very dearest friends to this day.

Favorite Marquette memory: The run to the Final Four in New Orleans — except the Kansas game!

What this award means: It means I might be doing a few things right. There are certainly more deserving candidates than me, so I feel very fortunate to be honored with all of those past recipients.
