Pray the Novena
The Novena of Grace in honor of St. Francis Xavier is a Jesuit devotion that dates to the seventeenth century. Parishes, schools, and other institutions around the world sponsored by the Society of Jesus join together in prayer for the nine days leading up to the anniversary of the canonization of St. Ignatius and St. Francis Xavier on March 12, 1622. You can learn more about the novena here.
Fr. Michael Simone, S.J., associate pastor at Old St. Patrick’s in Chicago and contributing editor at America Magazine, will preach here at Gesu each day of the novena. Over the course of nine days, Fr. Simone will weave together Lenten themes with Ignatian Spirituality and the life of St. Francis Xavier.
