Thanksgiving Prayer

With deep gratitude we turn to you, Our God, for the abundance of your gifts to us:

For the vast plains and the rugged mountains
For busy waters of the streams, lakes and oceans
For the pink of the sunrises and the red of the sunsets
For winter’s cold and summer’s heat.

For the abundance of food for our table
For the farmers who plant the seed and harvest the crops
For family and friends who surround us
For those who reach out to the poor and the lonely.

For those close and those at a distance
For our soldiers who ensure our peace
For those living and for those deceased
For those who smile and laugh and bring us hope.

For those who remind us all is gift
For those who call out for us to share our abundance
For those who draw compassion from us
For those who show us the face of God.

We bow our heads and bend our knees
We pause to remember all that we have received
We thank you, our God for all you have been and will be.
We make this our Thanksgiving Prayer.

Amen.
