Marquette Business’ Kellstadt Lecture to discuss the formation of misinformation and disinformation, April 12

Headshots of 2024 Kellstadt Lecture speakersMILWAUKEE — Dr. Beth Vallen, professor of marketing, and Dr. Jeremy Kees, the Richard J. and Barbara Naclerio Endowed Chair in Business and professor of marketing, both at Villanova University, will deliver the 2024 Kellstadt Lecture on Friday, April 12, at 10:30 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.

Their lecture, “Fighting Infodemics: Warning Labels and Antidotes to Mis- and Disinformation,” will discuss the formation of misinformation and disinformation, recognized as global threats to democracy, public health, consumer information and social cohesion. The presenters then offer a framework and creative ideas to stimulate research helping to counteract infodemics via disclosures and warning labels.

Vallen and Kees are co-editors of the American Marketing Association’s Journal of Public Policy & Marketing. Both have been named among Poets & Quants’ “Best Undergraduate Business Professors."

The Kellstadt Lecture is an annual, endowed event that brings together some of the industry’s brightest thinkers to discuss its most pressing challenges. Previous speakers have included Michelle Morris, the vice president of global marketing solutions at Facebook, and Paul DePodesta, the chief strategy officer for the Cleveland Browns and a central figure in Michael Lewis’ book “Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game.”
