Advisory: Marquette University Commencement ceremonies to be held May 11 at Fiserv Forum

Picture of graduates waiting for 2023 Commencement ceremony to startMILWAUKEE —Marquette University will recognize the 2,852 members of its 143rd graduating class with Commencement ceremonies to be held Saturday, May 11, at Fiserv Forum.

Undergraduates will be recognized in a ceremony at 1 p.m., and graduates of the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management will be recognized in a ceremony at 5 p.m.

Photographers are welcome to capture b-roll and still images freely in an unobtrusive manner. The undergraduate ceremony is expected to last less than two and a half hours. Media interested in attending a Commencement ceremony should RSVP by contacting Kevin Conway, associate director of university communication, at kevin.m.conway@marquette.edu. The ceremonies will also be livestreamed on the 2024 Commencement website.

Undergraduate ceremony

Dr. Shital Vora, CEO and co-founder of Global Brigades, will serve as Commencement speaker for the undergraduate ceremony. She will receive an honorary doctorate degree as part of the ceremony.

Facts about the undergraduate Class of 2024:

  • 1,586 graduates
  • 21% of graduates are first-generation students
  • 28% of graduates are students of color
  • Graduates are representing 39 states
  • Most popular majors, by size of graduating class: nursing, biomedical sciences, finance, psychology, mechanical engineering

Graduate ceremony

[NOTE: Graduate recognition ceremonies for the law and dental schools are not part of this ceremony and are not open to media at this time.]

Peggy Troy, Children’s Wisconsin CEO, will speak at the Graduate School and Graduate School of Management ceremony. She will receive an honorary doctorate degree as part of the ceremony.
