Set your self apart

Clinical/Service

Community is at the heart of everything we do here at Marquette. As a pre-health student, you’ll engage with Milwaukee and our residents through service-learning courses, student organizations, community service opportunities, internships and clinical placements. You can expand your horizons globally through Global Brigades and study abroad options. Together, these experiences broaden your perspectives and add depth to your applications.

Research

Doing research is an excellent way to stand out on medical school apps. As an undergrad at Marquette, you’ll have plenty of chances to work with internationally respected researchers and their teams who are tackling some of society's most pressing medical problems. Most research opportunities are set up independently by students. Below are some resources for getting started.

Post-Baccalaureate Programs

Post-Baccalaureate Programs are designed to assist individuals pursuing a medical/dental career after they have already received a Bachelor’s degree. The purposes of these programs vary. Some are designed for individuals who have not yet completed the science courses required for their professional school application. Other programs are designed for individuals wishing to enhance an existing academic record; these students have taken the requisite courses, but need to improve their GPAs to increase the competitiveness of their applications. Things to consider:

  • Certificate or Master’s
  • Cost and Length (1-year, 2-year)
  • Career-Changer or Academic Enhancers
  • Linked to desired professional school
  • Profession Specific Programs
  • Minority and Economically Disadvantaged
