Meet the leadership team guiding Wellness + Recreation. Our leaders are committed to creating a campus environment where students can thrive through holistic wellness, meaningful connections, and exceptional care.

Luis de Zengotita, Vice President for Student Life, Belonging and Well-Being
Luis de Zengotita serves as Vice President for Student Life, Belonging and Well-Being at Marquette University, providing leadership for Wellness + Recreation and the Division of Belonging and Student Affairs. Within Wellness + Recreation, he oversees an integrated portfolio that includes the Medical Clinic, Counseling Center, Campus Recreation, and Health Promotion. Grounded in Marquette’s Catholic, Jesuit tradition of cura personalis (care for the whole person) his work is focused on advancing Marquette as a healthy campus through a collective-impact approach that strengthens collaboration across these areas and positions student well-being as a shared responsibility across the university. He is committed to creating an environment where students can thrive, build meaningful connections, and develop the skills and practices that support lifelong well-being.

James Friel, Director, Campus Recreation
James Friel serves as the Director of Campus Recreation at Marquette University, overseeing the department’s programs, facilities, staff, and daily operations. He has more than 20 years of experience in higher education and has been part of the Marquette community since 2018. James holds a bachelor’s degree in General Management from UW-Whitewater and a master’s degree in Sport Administration from UW-La Crosse.
Outside of work, he enjoys attending live sporting events, watching his daughters play sports, going to concerts, and spending time with his family.

Keli Wollmer, MPAS, P.A.-C, Executive Director, Medical Clinic
Keli is a Physician Assistant-Certified (PA-C) provider and serves as the Executive Director of the Medical Clinic. She earned a Master of Physician Assistant Studies with a specialization in Emergency Medicine from the University of Nebraska, as well as degrees from Saint Louis University and the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. With more than 30 years of clinical experience, Keli has been part of the Marquette University Medical Clinic since 2000. Her professional interests include public health, infectious disease, minor surgical procedures, women’s health, prevention, and patient education.
Keli is dedicated to providing holistic, patient-centered care and strives to ensure that every individual has access to compassionate, inclusive, and equitable care.
Brenda Lenz, LPC, SAC, Director, Counseling Center
Brenda is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Substance Abuse Counselor who serves as the Director of Marquette University’s Counseling Center. She has more than 20 years of experience at Marquette and nearly 30 years as a practicing therapist. Her clinical interests include complex mental health concerns and co-occurring substance use. In addition, she has oversight over the Health Promotion, Prevention and Advocacy team as well as the Collegiate Recovery Program.
Brenda is committed to providing evidence-based, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed care while fostering a welcoming, inclusive, accessible, and safe environment where students can find support.
