MU grads work with JVC
Four 2005 Marquette alumni serve with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps
Four Marquette alumni from the class of 2005 are serving in the Northwest region of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, JVC:NW. They are Carrie Mashek, Arts & Sciences; Tiffany Huber, Arts & Sciences; Kathleen Hoarty, Nursing; and Marcus Ebenhoe, Arts & Sciences.
Carrie Mashek is working with the Yakima City Prosecuting Attorneys, in Yakima, Wash. Tiffany Huber's placement is with Outside In, a drop-in day center for homeless youth in Portland, Ore. Kathleen Hoarty works with Yakima Neighborhood Health Services in Yakima Wash. Marcus Ebenhoe volunteers at Providence Hospice of Seattle, Wash.
All of the volunteers live in community with other JV's, and commit to simple living, spiritual growth and working to promote social justice among urban and rural populations. JVC:NW volunteers’ placements are related to homelessness, disabilities, education, healthcare and shelter from abuse. Many work with Indigenous populations in Alaska, Washington and Montana.
